Minor Preview

The Richmond Robins minor team will be coming off their first action of the season the night before in Scottdale.  The Robins are annually one of the very best minor squads and last year defeated the Bandits to earn their way to the National championship.

The Bandits minor team is always loaded with fresh young talent.  The Pittsburgh area is one of the thriving roller scenes in the country, thanks in part to a terrific scholastic program in the region.  Bandit’s manager Jon Roux wastes no time scooping up the many talented players the region has to offer.  Players like Kevin Sines, Dave Stock, and Steve Leibhart helped the Bandits to an impressive 27-5 record last year and they look to earn their way out of he division this year.

This series is a rematch of last season’s division final, in which the Robins upset the top seeded Bandits to earn a trip to Disney.  The Bandits are very rarely the underdog in any match up, but the season is young and both teams can use this series to claim early season division supremacy.

Elite Preview

The Robins climb closer to the top of the division each season and will have a tough battle the night before with the Inferno.  They always seem to dig just a bit deeper when playing the Bandits and the enormous playing surface in Harmerville will not hurt a young and fast Robins squad.

For the first time in about a year and a half the Pittsburgh Bandits play games, not as the league champions.  They now become part of the chase and no longer the chased.  Still the boys from Pittsburgh are to be feared.  There top players are among the league’s best/  Players like Dustin Roux, Brock Wilson, Justin Cormack, and Dustin Brown should cause everyone fits in the Colonial Division this season.  While the division has gotten better with the likes of the Lunatics and a much strengthened Mavericks team, until beaten, the Bandits are Kings of the Colonial Division.

If anyone can come into Harmerville and sneak out with a split and possibly a surprise sweep, it is the Richmond Robins.  Historically the Robins have been a tough match up for the Bandits, but still the Bandits should be considered the favorites in this match up.  Dustin Brown and crew may have renewed purpose this year to reclaim their throne.  Don’t expect the Bandits to come out soft opening night.
