Well not exactly! The South Carolina Buccaneers announced this week that the state of South Carolina will again be represented in the Professional Inline Hockey Association. After the South Carolina Pirates had to relocate from Myrtle Beach to Greenville, owner Doug Jones changed the name, image, and face of the organization. The Buccaneers will play in the Mason Dixon Division and will look to topple the division leading Harrisburg Lunatics along with the Pennsylvania Typhoon, and the Pennsylvania Team Blue.
Jones and the Buccaneers have made some key changes within the front office as former Greenville Grrrowl player, Paul Bailley has been named Director of Hockey Operations. The league is a non-check and non-fight league which gives players more room to demonstrate their skills. Bailley has already begun recruiting for the 2010-2011 season and fans should look for a younger, leaner and much faster Buccaneers squad.
All Buccaneer home games will be played at the Pavilion in Taylors, SC. Check out the newest team in PIHA at www.scbuccaneershockey.com.
