The first Friday that had games played this season saw a doubleheader at the Marple Sports Arena in a 14U match-up between the host Gladiators and the Cougars.
The Cougars would leave Marple with a pair of one-goal wins, including a shootout victory in the first game. Carl Flinn and Chris Thomas scored in the shootout after Thomas had tied the game with 2:33 remaining in the second half to take a 4-3 decision.
Thomas continued to light the lamp in the sceond game with a shorthanded tally at the 7:50 mark of the first half. It was enough as Wes DeVoy turned asie 20 shots to seal the sweep.
