The New Jersey Grizzlies, PIHA’s 2009-2010 Eastern Conference Pro Division Champions are proud to announce the completion of their Pro and Minor team rosters for the 2010-2011 season. “We had tryouts on Sunday and we are happy what we came up with.” Says General Manager Denis Jelcic. The Grizzlies return players on defense such as James Manganaro, Robbie Fulton and Chris Wolf; while at forward Phil Cocozzo leads the way along with linemate Andrew Brodsky. In goal, returning are goaltender Andrew Goworek and Michael Maczynski. Says Jelcic “We have some returnees from last season that are a great start. Then we gained alot of experience and skills with the selections at tryouts.” At tryouts, the Grizzlies added players such as forwards JJ Fichter, Jon Lucente, Nick Allison, Jim Redstreake and Tim Fulton; while on defense they added skill and defensive prowl with players such as Michael Keating and Matt Grossi. “I think our roster is all set, but you never know…there could be others we haven’t seen” adds Jelcic. With the season a little less than three weeks from starting, the Pro Grizzlies are all set.
The Wallington Grizzlies, New Jersey Grizzlies minor league team has completed their roster as well. Not only has the roster stayed very similiar to last season, but they have added a former Grizzlies coach back into the mix. Ken Peters comes back to run the Minors, after a few seasons with the Grizzlies pros and other organizations in the area. “I’m pretty happy to be back. I thought I was done coaching, but I guess when you love the game, you just can’t say no” says Peters. The minors are proud to rosters forwards such as Nick Pileggi, Kris Moore, Corey Calajoe, Kurtis Peters, Chris Dehnert, Brandon Harrington and Nick Genovese; while on defense Jeff Turner, Declan Quinn, Jeff O’Connell and John Forhecz. Goaltenders Ryan Wolf and Nick Benincasa are back after stints away from the team last year and the Grizzlies are ready to go. “I think we took a step forward last year and this year we have improved on paper, but as they say, the game is won on the rink” says General Manager Denis Jelcic.
The Grizzlies are all set for the 2010-2011 season and ready to compete for the PIHA crown.
