The brand new Midwest Division in PIHA got going a few weeks ago as the Kansas City Patriots made the trip to Des Moines, IA and started their way to building the sport in the Kansas City area. The Patriots will take on teams from the Rocky Mountains to the St. Louis Arch. The division will consist of four teams: Des Moines Express, Jefferson City Wheelers, Limon Thunder, and the Patriots but the team from KC is more worried about being competitive and giving the youth in the area something to look forward to.
“We are looking forward to competing at this level. We’ve been to a few tournaments and have done well but this will be a new step, a new era in roller hockey here in the area,” says Patriot GM, Luke Davis. The Midwest Division organizations will be fighting for their chance to get to the PIHA Finals in Colorado Springs, CO at the end of February. “We believe all four of these teams have a legitimate shot at not only winning their division, but playing and playing well at the Finals against the other Minor winners. We are excited to have them a part of the league and look forward to having each organization grow as we do for years to come,” commented league President, CJ Yoder.
