In the Pee Wee AA division we had what could easily be called the game of the tournament! The undefeated Tour Scorpions, who have already taken home the Squirt AAA championship were taking on the Mission Black Ice 96 team. Black Ice would take an early 1-0 lead and with great goaltending both ways, it would stay that way until late in the 2nd period. Jesse Richards would take the puck from a Black Ice player and burry one high glove to tie things up at 1 apiece. The Scorpions killed off a couple of power plays late in regulation to force O.T. just under 2 minutes into overtime, Brandon Napoli would come down the left wings and beat the Black Ice goalie far side off the post for the winner.

The Division 1 final was a highly anticipated matchup between the Tour Bordercats and Tour Excitement. The Bordercats got on the lead early 2-0 but the Excitement came back hard. After making it 2-1, Chad Spezia answered to put the Bcats up 3-1, but with under 3 minutes left Shawn Gawrys was awarded a penalty shot, and proved why he’s one of the top players in the world as he cut the lead to 3-2. After the insuing faceoff though, Chad Spezia went down on a one on one and scored one of the nicest goals I’ve seen in my 12 years in the business. The Bordercats took home the innagural D1 title 4-2.
Division 1 Awards:
High Scorer – Cody Baugh, Tour Excitement
Low Goalie – David Thomas, Tour Bordercats
MVP – Chad Spezia, Tour Bordercats
Revision Defenseman, Robert Scott, Tour Bordercats
