The New Jersey Grizzlies have announced their commitment to participate in Major League Roller Hockey. With some of the more skilled and physical players in the roller hockey world, the Grizzlies will present a challenge to Major League Roller Hockey’s current squads.
Make no mistake about it, the New Jersey Grizzlies are serious about their challenge to the top teams in MLRH and the presence of Ice Hockey players such as James Manganaro and Phillip Cocozzo will bolster their bid to excel in the rough and tumble world of full-contact Major League Roller Hockey. Manganaro is a veteran of Western New England University and Montclair State University while teammate Philip Cocozzo’s resume includes teams like the Connecticut Clippers and Connecticut University.
The Grizzlies roster also includes roller hockey players who have competed overseas and for Team USA including Michael Keating and Jim Redstreake. Tom Youmans adds international experience having played for Team Ferrara in Italy.
New Jersey also has plenty of home grown talent. Chris Wolf has played for the NJ organization since he was 9, Timmie Fulton since he was 10, Andrew Goworek the goaltender has been with the program since he was 14 and is now the starting goaltender.
Players who have made it to the squad from other organizations like the Philadelphia Brawlers include JJ Fichter , Gene Gsell, Jim McGrath and Joey D’Aloisio….other players include goaltender Michael Mazcynski who has had experience playing Junior Ice Hockey for the past two years and Jim Goodliffe who comes from Michigan State University, a roller hockey program rich in tradition.
The coaching staff includes Robert Fulton, whose coaching days stem back to the Barracudas Roller Hockey Club, Head Coach at Rutgers University for more than five years and long time coach with the Grizzlies organization. Denis Jelcic who has been with the organization since 1999, involving five national championships, numerous regional championships along with PIHA and AIHL Division and Conference championships adds his coaching experience. Jelcic has coached state teams and served as the New Jersey Director for State Wars Hockey. No doubt about it, this team has experience on the floor and behind the bench a valuable commodity in their drive to be the best in Major League Roller Hockey.
The New Jersey Grizzlies are a confident bunch who look forward to an exciting season in the MLRH and want to be at the Championships in Orange County, California come March l, 2012.
