The Phoenix Dragons win the Southwest Division Championships by beating the 1st place Tucson Slayers in overtime of game 3. With the Dragons trailing 4-5 with a minute to go Phoenix went on the power play. The Dragons pulled their goalie with 25 seconds to go and attacked 5 on 3. John (JR) DeGroote came off the bench and caught a perfect pass from Danny Marmorstein and Daniel Aminoto to beat the Tucson goalie short side top shelf. In a game that saw 5 lead changes in the final five minutes of regulation time…this was a game for the ages. The two Arizona teams are longtime friends and rivals having played together and against each other for many years.
Where are you going after the game? Disneyworld was the answer after 9 minutes and 6 seconds of overtime.
