Well it’s almost 4:00 P.M. here in Frisco, and the TORHS staff has only gone through 3 bags of cinnamon coated nuts today. I don’t know what the guy puts in those, but the pecans are especially addicting. I hope he’s not here the rest of the week so I can save some money!
The game of the day so far took place first thing this morning between two teams that made the drive down from Colorado. CJ Yoder’s Jr. Mudcats Rocky Mountain, and the Colorado Crash Test Dummies. First off i have to say the Dummies have the best shirts around, how much do the sisters of the players have to love wearing “My Brother is a Dummie” t-shirts! Crash Test held a 1-0 lead for the majority of the game in the PW AA division, but the Jr. Mudcats gained a ton of momentum after they killed off a 5 minute major penalty. They knotted the score at 1 with just over 2 minutes left, and after an exciting 5 man shootout took home their first win in that division by a final of 2-1.
I have to comment on how great all the players and parents from the UK are. They have so much class both on and off the rink, it’s a pleasure every time I run into one of them. We’re lucky enough to have them in our hotel, so we get to spend a little extra time chatting with them. Thank you again to Helen George for taking the time and putting in the effort to get them over here for TORHS, we can’t begin to tell you how much we appreciate it!!
On a side note, if any of you have ear plugs the boys in my room would greatly appreciate it. Trying to get back to sleep with Evil snoring like a gorilla isn’t the easiest thing to do. And quite frankly I’m nervous that Bob may smoke me with one of his pillow throws in the middle of the night!
D1 action is currently under way on the Arena rink with the Tour Excitement carrying a 3-1 lead, make that 3-2 over the La-Tex Snipers. Shawn Gawrys has all 3 goals, and we’re about to see if he can continue to carry the team this afternoon. They came out flat and are trying to hang on to the lead to pretty much guarantee them a playoff birth.
