The SC Buccaneers appeared on Saturday, January 23rd from 1pm – 3pm at the Spartanburg cinemas for family day to celebrate the premier of the movie, “The Tooth Fairy” with Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson.

The SC Buccaneers arrived to a crowd of parents and children who had them autograph “Tooth Fairy” posters and pictures. As Darcy Anderson, Jason Whitman, Brian Hannold and Darren Anderson worked the crowd, they all got to see the “Tooth Fairy” for the first time with fans who had come to see the movie and meet the Buccaneers.

Buccaneers General Manager Doug Jones, received good news on Friday, January 22nd. Jones, who was formerly with the Hartford Whalers organization of the NHL from 1987- 1989, was hired as the Director of scouting for the new Connecticut professional franchise, “The Danbury Whalers “, of the Federal League.

The team’s ownership includes original founder of the WHA turned NHL franchise Bill Barnes son, Mike Barnes and several members of the NHL Hartford Whaler’s legacy in management and ownership. Jones, will be working to recruit and scout players all across the US and Canada in time for the Whalers season which begins in November of 2010.

“This will not interfere with my interest to continue to run the Buccaneers at all”, Jones said. “My wife and I are 100% committed to Greenville, our sponsors and our fans. We love the area and are searching for a home and permanent residence here”, he said.
