Both teams made it to the Elie AAA final in totally different ways. California Mission Axiom mercied the New York Revision Wings 9-1. The game was 5-0 before we were five minutes in. In the other semi, the two Missouri teams played an epic head to head battle. Can you say Travis Fudge? Travis scored five goals as the “Meltdown” was under way. Each goal was a legitimate snipe and he had the Fighting Saints up by three goals. There was just so much fire power on the Missouri Meltdown that the Fighting Saints couldn’t keep them down. Meltdown’s Kyle Kreamer would score three straight goals to tie the game in a matter of four minutes, and then the other Kyle (Okane) would score in OT to send his team (Meltdown) to the Finals.
We get to the finals and Axiom score first. Lorren Barron (CA) would get his team on the board, not to be outdone by Phil Maroon (MO) who would tie the game at 1. Barron would score again for Axiom, followed by Stephen Campbell to send Axiom into the final period of regulation with a 3-1 lead. The next two goals would be scored by the Missouri Fighting Saints. Beilsten and Okane would tie the game at three but Raf Rodriguez would come through with the game winner with exactly one minute remaining in the game. Even with the goaltender pulled, Missouri couldn’t net the game tying goal. California Mission Axiom takes home $10,000. Yes….$10,000. Each team agreed to a winner take all Final game.
Final score: California Mission Axiom 4 Missouri Meltdown 3 SHOTS: Axiom 21 Metldown 22
MVP: Lorren Barron (CA)
