Colorado Springs, CO – The trip to Colorado was long but for the Suffolk Sting it was definitely worth it. The Eastern Division champs went through the round robin with a perfect 4-0 record but then found themselves in a battle in the semi-finals. The Rocky Mountain Division winner, Denver Wolverines, brought a young, quick team to the matchup and gave the Sting all they could handle. But the beast from the east pulled out a thrilling third game to move into the Minor Division Finals.
The purple and yellow would have to knock off another worthy opponent as the Midwest Tornados would be waiting for a little redemption after a tight 3-2 loss during the round robin matchup. The final saw the Sting roll away with a sweep of those Tornados and never seemed threatened. “This is a great way to end the 2010-2011 season,” mentioned head coach, Jason Muro. “We began this season knowing we were an upper tier team and looking to win this championship. It’s pretty amazing how a bunch of guys come together and become a TEAM.”
The Professional Inline Hockey Association would like to thank all five teams that competed this weekend and again, congratulations Sting!
