MLRH Pro TourMajor League Roller Hockey (MLRH) has announced their expanded Summer 2010 Pro Tour and the return of it’s highly successful Slamm Hockey full contact CO-ED league.

The winning Pro team will receive $10,000 with the runner-up team receiving a $5,000 award. The Slamm Hockey winner will take home $5,000.

Built on the success of it’s highly competitive MLRH2, AAA and AA leagues, MLRH will offer four Pro Festival events leading to a National Championship weekend tentativly scheduled for August 22nd & 23rd.

At this time, the Buffalo Wings, the 2009 MLRH Champions are set to return and defend their title.

East Coast, West Coast and Midwest…pick your qualifying event
New to the MLRH Pro format is the addition of a West Coast qualifying event, designed to accommodate tournament teams without a suitable home facility for a traditional MLRH schedule. Each pro team will be required to play “one” Festival on either the east coast, midwest or west coast which will seed them for the finals . Each team will play four games and their standings will determine their seeding and playoffs status.

As each events standings are kept, the top two teams in the Pro division will be given “byes” to the semi -finals, at the Pro finals based on points and tiebreakers, while the other teams battle it out with roundrobin play to determine who will advance to the semi-finals to meet the top two finishers from the Pro Tour.

These cross-country matchups should create a real buzz.” enthused Bill Raue, MLRH President. “This series will have the best of the best meeting all across America. We are not in anyway trying to compete with NARCh, TORHS, ECHO, State Wars so we’ve set our dates to give teams a chance to play with us and not miss those committments with the industry leaders”, Raue finished. “We are looking at also going with Roller hockey alliance to make player memberships easier on us.

-Raue concluded.

The return of Slamm Hockey (and Slamm Hockey Lite)
Slamm Hockey is back and this time they are playing for cash. League officials believe this is the first time in roller hockey history that any prize money has been awarded for a CO-ED event. Slamm Hockey is played with alternating lines of men vs. men and women vs, women in full contact action. Adding to the fun is that, in games carried on broadband TV, there are announcers on the players bench with each team discussing the action. It is not uncommon to hear the women dissing the men on their shift and vice versa.

Bill Raue, Slamm Hockey creator calls it “90% pure hockey and 10% soap opera.” Slamm Hockey events will be a part of all of the Pro Tour stops. In it’s debut season, MLRH operated the various Slamm teams but this time around, it is a wide open competition open to any group that elects to form a team. For teams that enjoy the Slamm Hockey format but not the “Slamm” part, MLRH will also offer non-check Slamm Lite

The Quebec Mistral with Itan Chavira and Jenna Donnelly are the defending Slamm Hockey champions. The Mistral edged the New York Flash in OT to take the title in Buffalo.

AAA, AA and CO-ED non-check events included at each Event
The summer festivals will include non-check tournaments with qualifiers advancing to the national championships the last weekend in August. While MLRH has long been identified with full-contact hockey, the addition of non-check leagues has opened the doors to many players who have used the AAA league as a vehicle to be seen by pro teams. The AA league has opened the MLRH door to many younger player who enjoy playing along side the pro events. There will be no prize money in these divisions but teams will enjoy the prestige of a MLRH National Championship.

ALL games will be played with two 12 minute stopped time halves. All ties in qualifiers remain as ties. Teams with best records from qualifier may advance to semi – final seed at the PRO Summer tour finals.
