High School, Men’s Gold and Silver have new champions and we start the Division 1 and Midget Platinum brackets today

First congrats of the morning go off to the Lancaster Redskins on winning the High School division. Its always tough to see someone lose a game that you work so hard to get to. Watching the Edison Chargers play ironman is exciting at times. They just ran out of steam this morning. Playing two divisions and one with 4 skaters is just tough. My hats are off to these guys though. They had to beat a tough St. Francis squad to advance to the final last night.

My new word is “Wow”. I’ve seen the members of Dangl UK play two divisions and they were superb. Its just unfortunate that one bounce or one play can send you home wondering. They had three tight and exciting one goal games in the past day. They have looked at every scenario and put it in the past, moved forward and have overcome adversity every step of the way. Finally, they came out ahead though in the 3rd place game of Mens Silver and this time won the OT scenario to go home with a medal.

NARCh Finals experience brought home the Men’s Gold title for Greasy Joe’s Bottomless BBQ (MO). They avoided a scare from a fast Smurf team from down here in Florida. The Joe’s had a 5-1 lead until about 7 miuntes left when the Smurfs popped in two goals including a shorty to bridge the gap. That wasn’t enough as Greasy Joe’s stayed focused and added an empty netter to seal it.

The Men’s Silver division final was exciting. Straight Outta Compton (NJ) was up 2-0 going into the second. Eschelon 4play (Alberta) is never a team to count out, as they have shown throughout the tourney. A few unanswered goals in a row and they never looked back. After a tough tourney last year in San Jose, they overcame the disappointment and claimed the title.

Midget Platinum and Division 1 are starting this morning. Already, the St. Louis Jr. Mudcats look sharp. They beat the Mississauga Mission Rattlers 7-0 to open up the D1 bracket. The Tour Excitement (NY) and Larceny (CA) battled it out over on the Green Rink. Larceny blanked them 3-0. The Tour Mudcats (PA) looked good and pulled ahead of Superfresh (NJ) 6-3. Superfresh had some nice suits though! Kudos to Denis on the Uni’s!
