The win by the USA was expected and when Team Canada got two penalties, it seemed easy for the USA. However, Brett Leggat denied all the American attempts and Canada was the team with the first goal of the game, put in by Joshua Foote shooter.

The Americans, who turned the tied of the game, controlled the rest of the 1st period. CJ Yoder tied the game and two minutes later Itan Chavira scored to take the lead.

Then two more goals came. In the 16th minute Shawn Gawrys hit the target and later he assisted the goal by Rafael Rodriguez. Another surprise appeared when Team Canada scored twice with goals by David Hammond and Kyle Henderson, the Canadians were back.

The next chance for Nathan Sigmund hit the cross bar of the Canadian goal. USA did not score on their first power play and Walser`s one man show brought no success as well. Shawn Gawrys hit the post in the delayed penalty and Team USA was desperate until Itan Chavira scored again.

”We enjoy the matches against Canada every time due to the rivalry. Now we have to prepare for play-offs. We want a medal,” said the American shooter Chavira.

”The Americans are strong and fast. We respected this for three periods, but then we got useless penalties,” said Dave Hammond from Team Canada.
