Once again Winter Wars East is upon us, I get so excited bringing this event to Sportsplex as it is such a great facility and staff to work with. Mike Churchville, Anthony Merriman, Tony Voce, Tony Ho and the rest of the gang are always a pleasure to deal with and this place truly feels like my home away from home each March. The weather has been great today and the forecast is for a beautiful weekend. With the tragedy in Japan, I guess we shouldn’t complain about a little rain or snow anyway, right? Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those families affected in Japan!

87 teams are here this weekend representing, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio, Florida, Delaware, and our first ever team from Rhode Island!

Thompson, Richford, Magnum RP and myself all arrived yesterday for setup and we had a nice relaxing evening. The highlight of the night had to be a Trivia contest at the local TGIF restaurant, our team named Team Tucker (in honor of Jon Mogey’s favorite pup) took home Round 1 trivia honors. The rest of the “old timers’ in the restaurant were shocked to see four New Yorkers with so much brains. Toughest question we got right was the “first comedian to perform in front of a live TV show audience.” Answer; Lucielle Ball.

We welcome Denis Jelcic to the Winter Wars staff, as he is handling all of the check in and paperwork. Come up and say hi to Mr. New Jersey and get your team signed in.

Well off to watch some great east coast hockey…be back later with some results.
